PR Tips: Generating a Buzz around Your Restaurant

Need help generating a buzz around your restaurant? If so, here are three tips from public relations experts to help you achieve just that:

Free Samples

Everyone loves free items, especially when that item is food. Hand out free samples outside your restaurant or anywhere nearby that sees a high volume of people. This is especially helpful when you are trying to promote a new addition to your menu.

If doing this in a public setting is too difficult, you can offer a sample platter to customers in your restaurant. Choosing to give away free samples this way also has the added benefit of enabling you to learn what customers think about the dish.

Mouth-Watering Photos

When it comes to food, words simply cannot describe how delicious a dish is. That is what photos are for. After all, we eat with our eyes, don’t we? A gorgeous photograph can easily convey the taste, aroma, and texture of a dish to all those who view it, as well as get people in the mood to try out a particular dish. Luckily, many PR agencies offer photography services, which is convenient if you are already working with an agency.

Invite Local Foodies

Check the Internet for local food bloggers and invite them to try some of your dishes. Although some of these foodies are “amateur” food critics, they do tend to be influential people whom will be encouraged to visit your restaurant after reading the bloggers’ reviews. If your dishes and service please them, they will write about it on their blog and help open the door to a new range of customers.
